Tutorial Video

The first step for every player should be to watch the official tutorial video. It will explain all the basics of the game. The best way to learn Deceit is to play!

Guide

Corridor

The premise is simple: make it from the first area of an abandoned location to the exit on in the third area. The only thing standing in your way? Your friends.

6 of you will find yourselves waking up in this strange place. 2 of you have been infected with a virus. At first glance the virus has no visual effect... you look no different, you move no different and you sound no different. Until the lights go out.

Periodically you will find yourself engulfed in darkness. During this night period the virus can start to take effect, transforming the Infected from their human forms into "Terrors". During this period they'll run faster, be harder to kill and also gain the ability to execute Innocents.

The Innocent players will try and work together to find out who the Infected are, but with very little to work on from the beginning you'll have to find out who you can trust the hard way.

While traversing the maps you'll find objectives designed to either aid or hinder your escape.

  • Camera - The Terrors are weak to light; flashing a camera at an attacking Terror can slow it down to help you escape until the blackout is over.
  • Blood Bags - Consuming blood bags allows transformed Terrors to execute Innocents.
  • Body Armour - Increased defences against gunshots and slight protection against Terrors.
  • Shotgun - a very powerful weapon with limited ammo.
  • Torch - The Terrors are weak to light; flashing a torch at an attacking Terror can slow it down to help you escape until the blackout is over.
  • Tracker - Place on another player to track players where they are on the map for 60 seconds. Can be used in day and night periods.
  • Inspection Kit - An item that allows you to inspect 1 player in the game and check if they're infected or not.
  • Antidote - revive a player that is in the dying state, after being executed by a Terror during the night period.
  • Lethal Injection - Instantly put another player in human form into bleed out, Terror or Innocent.

With little to no information at the start of the game it's up to you to work out the best way to escape and who to trust. Is the person who rushes for the camera just looking to save himself or is he Infected trying to deny the Innocents the chance to use it against him?

These are the kind of decisions you'll have to make in order to successfully escape.

Night period

The night period is a game-state within Deceit. After a set duration, the game will advance to the night period and up to 3 can occur each game.

The most obvious feature of a night period is that the map becomes significantly darker, hindering the visibility of all players greatly. During the night period, Infected players can transform into a Terror, and if they are "enraged", they can execute someone.

The night period will end when the power is full regenerated. To regenerate the power faster, you can collect fuses from units scattered around the map during the night period and depositing them in fuse boxes. This forces players to split up to end the night period quickly or move together resulting in a longer night period.

Once the power is regenerated, the doors to the next area will open and players will be forced into the next area as the oxygen runs out.

  • Both the first and second night period occur 2 minutes and 50 seconds after the start of the area (unless fuse boxes are broken to reduce the daytime) and will only end if enough fuses are deposited.
  • The third and final night period occurs 2 minutes after the second ends. Regenerating power allows the exit to be opened. Once opened the Innocent can escape through to safety. (The exit will be opened automatically if only 1 innocent remains.)

When the power is regenerated are completed in the third night period, the Terrors will automatically become enraged and can execute freely.

The power regenerates slowly over time during the night period. Without players depositing fuses, the night period will take much longer to complete.
